Swishing Tales
Overview
This site is primarily a gallery of drawings by the artist, Jenny Rosa. Jenny requested a virtual world where her mermaid art could live. She wanted to integrate her art into a marine landscape reminiscent of the Hawaiian Islands where she lives.
Design
This is a 100% Full Flash site that utilizes her art as a backdrop to create the ocean, reef and fish. An exploding volcano was created in After Effects and integrated into the main Flash file. The gallery uses an XML feed to display images dynamically within the Flash application. Dynamic Action script code operates the gallery and image overlays.
Animation
The reef seaweed sways with the motion of the waves. The schools of fish go about their business in schools or alone. Hermit crabs scour the ref looking for a tasty morsel of food. Every so often a whale can be spotted near the volcano, surfacing to blow a cloud of water as it takes a breath for another deep dive. Meanwhile, in the distance, a volcano blows its top.
